With a steady inbound flow every day, the total queue of vessels waiting to berth at the Port of Yantian increases. The Port Authority has been successful with re-opening the west port yard for laden import pickup and one more berth has been re-opened, allowing a maximum of 7 vessels alongside at the same time. This moves productivity towards 45% of normal levels.

While this has a positive impact on gate activity, which is soon expected to reach the same levels as before the incident, schedule reliability will continue to suffer with an average waiting time of 16 days and counting. To mitigate impact as best as we can and give our customers as much visibility into the situation as possible, below please find the plan for the remainder of the month, with 19 of our mainline services being impacted.

To this date, with the information currently at hand, we believe the above to be the best course of action. This plan has been formed together with our partners and with our customers at the front of our minds. In diverting our vessels, we are closely monitoring the situation in neighbouring ports. The current average waiting time in Shekou, Nansha, and Hongkong is between 2-4 days, but as more carriers omit Yantian, this number is expected to rise. Deciding which port to divert to will always be made with the objective of minimising supply chain delays.

We also want to advise that shipments not directly impacted by the Yantian situation might also be affected as we adjust our network to avoid port congestions and to limit the overall net loss of ocean network capacity due to omitting the Port of Yantian.

In giving you this information, we hope you have sufficient time to manage your supply chain accordingly, which is of the utmost importance to us. Your concern is our concern and we regret the inconvenience this incident may cause to your business in a time where certain industries are already stretched. Our teams are working around the clock to alleviate pressure points, so do not hesitate to reach out for an individual assessment as of what this means for you. The situation continues to deteriorate as more positive COVID cases have been confirmed in Shenzhen where Yantian port and Shekou port are located and in Guangzhou where Nansha port is located. We continue to closely monitor the situation and are doing our best to mitigate the impact on your supply chain where possible.

• Operation in the eastern area of the terminal where mother vessels mainly berth is slightly recovering but remains the low productivity which is about 45% of its normal level.
• From 08:00 AM 9th of June, all import laden containers resume operation in YICT.
• From 26th of May, origin export containers and transshipment containers in the western area of YICT have been detained and keep suspended until further notice.
• From 00:00 AM 10th of June, export laden container gate-in continues to be accepted only 7 days prior to vessel ETA, AND only after the terminal confirms the advance reservation made by trucking companies for laden containers gate-in.

Shekou port including Chiwan Container Terminal, Mawan Container Terminal and Shekou Container Terminal updates

• From 00:00 AM 6th of June to 23:59 PM 13 th of June, export laden container gate-in will be accepted only 3 days prior to vessel ETA.

Nansha port updates

• From 00:00 AM 7th of June, export laden container gate-in will be accepted only 7 days prior to vessel ETA in Nansha port.

Vessels

Due to aforementioned disruptions, we regret to inform you that 79 vessels including our partners’ vessels have omitted the Port of Yantian and Shekou in order to protect schedule reliability. Our people are working relentlessly with the contingency plan which covers 56 vessels for origin export shipments.

Please refer to the contingency plan as outlined below. Import laden containers on the omitted vessels are expected to delay for over three weeks.

In the meantime, we provide the best visibility of Maersk owned vessels which will call Yantian port in the coming week. It is subject to change.

The purpose of this advisory is to provide you with the latest update on the status of the Greater China Yantian/Shekou ports where the situation continues to deteriorate as more positive COVID cases have been confirmed in Shenzhen where Yantian port and Shekou port are located.

YICT updated the control measures per the following

• From 00:00 AM 31st of May, export laden container gate-in resumes. In the meantime, from May 31st to Jun 6th, CY-open will be available only to vessels within ETA-3 days only after the terminal confirms the advance reservation made by trucking companies for laden containers gate-in.

May 31, 2021 - Update 4

The purpose of this advisory is to provide you with the latest update on the status of the Greater China Yantian/Shekou ports where the situation continues to deteriorate as more positive COVID cases have been confirmed in Shenzhen where Yantian port and Shekou port are located.

Terminals

Yantian International Container Terminal (YICT) yard density remains elevated with disinfection and quarantine measures being continuously implemented by local authorities to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Operation in the eastern area of the terminal where mother vessels mainly berth continues to experience the low productivity which is about 30% of its normal level. We expect continued terminal congestion and vessel delays upwards of 7-8 days in the coming week.

YICT updated the control measures per the following

• All operations in the western area of YICT have been suspended until further notice.
• From 00:00 AM 31st of May, export laden container gate-in resumes. In the meantime, from May 31st to Jun 6th, CY-open will be available only to vessels within ETA-3 days only after the terminal confirms the advance reservation made by trucking companies for laden containers gate-in.
• Import laden container pick-up which is mainly concentrated in the eastern area of the port maintains normal operations.

Given COVID-19 prevention period, to ensure terminal safety and the service standard, Shekou port covering Chiwan Container Terminal, Mawan Container Terminal and Shekou Container Terminal updated the control measure per the following

• From 00:00 AM 1st of June, export laden container gate-in will be accepted only to vessels within ETA5 days.

Vessels

Due to aforementioned disruptions, we regret to inform you that several vessels will be omitting the Port of Yantian and Shekou in order to protect schedule reliability.

Empty Containers

Export empty pick-up at Yantian retains normal operations with the exception of Greeting Fortune Depot. 40 GP and 40 HC empty supply has been negatively impacted by the vessel delays. We offer customers to cross pick up at Shekou port if export containers need to gate in Yantian and cross pickup at Yantian or Shekou with no additional charge if customers move laden containers to Nansha port as loading.

Import empty return at Yantian is suspended. It is operated at Shekou instead.

Landside Service

Trucking service into YICT needs to be reserved in advance and export laden containers gate-in are subject to the confirmation issued by YICT. For customers who require cross pick at Shekou or laden containers into Nansha, Maersk can provide inland drayage as alternative solution.

May 29, 2021 - Update 3

Given the unease situation of Yantian port, we wish to provide you with details about any delays or pauses your cargo or shipments may encounter and offer some alternatives for mitigation.

Terminal

A few more COVID-19 positive cases were reported in Yantian International Container Terminal. Consequently, all operations in western area of YICT remain suspended until the further notice.

Terminal yard density keeps quite high with limited improvement. Furthermore, disinfection and quarantine measures are continuously implemented by local authorities to prevent COVID-19 from spreading. Thus, operation in eastern area where mother vessels mainly berth remains but with low productivity still. We see the terminal congestion and 5 days of vessel delays in the coming week.

On 27th of May, YICT updated the control measures of export laden container as following

• From 22:00 PM 25th of May to 23:59 PM 30th of May, export laden container gate-in will suspend. Import laden container gate-out and empty container pick-up operation will remain as normal.
• From 00:00 AM 31st of May, export laden container gate-in will resume. In the meantime, from May 31st to Jun 6th, CY-open will be available only to vessels within ETA-3.

Import laden container which mainly concentrates in eastern area keeps normal operation.

Vessels

Regret to inform you that we will have to proceed Yantian port omissions of a few vessels in order to recover the schedule reliability.

Trucking service into YICT has been impacted by the heavy traffic congestion of terminal area and empty pick up is expected to be delayed by 8 hours at least. For customers who requires cross pick at Chiwan, Maersk can provide inland drayage solution. Meanwhile we foresee the heavy congestion will continue after export laden gate-in resumes in YICT from 31st of May.

Terminal yard density reaches 96%. Furthermore, disinfection and quarantine measures are implemented by local authorities to prevent COVID-19 from spreading. Thus, operation in eastern area where mother vessels mainly berth remains but with low productivity. We see the terminal congestion and 2.5-3.5 days of vessel delays in the coming week.

For export laden container, YICT announced the control measures to improve terminal productivity.

• From 22:00 PM 25th of May to 23:59 PM 27th of May, export laden container gate-in will suspend. Laden container gate-out and empty container pick-up operation will remain as normal.
• From 00:00 AM 28th of May, export laden container gate-in will resume. In the meantime, from May 28th to Jun 3rd, CY-open will be available only to vessels within ETA-4.

Import laden container which mainly concentrates in eastern area keeps normal operation.
